Introduction to structural design, design philosophies and approaches, structural materials and loading. Behavior of structural members, connections and approaches to the design of steel and reinforced concrete elements and systems constructed using current codes. Introduction to timber structures. Three lectures.

Pre- or corequisite: 308.
