Sickness, Insanity and Transgression in German Literature and Film
GRMN 2227 (3)In this course students will explore the concepts of physical and psychological health and happiness by analyzing the ways in which sickness, insanity and social transgression appear in a range of cultural records from the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Germany. We will review these concepts by looking at a range of cultural records, including literary texts, medical, psychological and contemporary scientific writings and films.
