Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program will demonstrate:

  • A broad knowledge of pharmaceutical and related sciences;
  • An understanding of drug discovery, development, and commercialization;
  • Effective written and oral communication skills;
  • An ability to integrate and apply knowledge to solve problems; and
  • Ethical and socially responsible conduct.

Admission Information

Applicants to the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (clinical track) program must meet admission requirements to both the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program and the University of New Mexico. After admission to the Pharm.D. program, students can choose to apply for the undergraduate degree after their first professional year of pharmacy study. Refer to the College of Pharmacy: Doctor of Pharmacy section of this Catalog for more information.

Graduation Requirements

The B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences is granted to students upon fulfillment of the following:

  1. Completion of 120 credit hours of coursework of the prescribed curriculum.
  2. Completion of the UNM General Education Curriculum.
  3. Completion of at least 42 credit hours of upper-division coursework. Such courses are numbered 300 or above.
  4. Compliance with the minimum residence requirements, as stated in the Undergraduate Program section of this Catalog.
  5. Maintenance of an overall minimum grade point average of 2.00.

Program of Study: Clinical Track

This completion track is open only to students accepted into the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program. Refer to the Doctor of Pharmacy section of this Catalog for information and requirements.
