The University of New Mexico–Taos became a branch campus on July 1, 2003. The Center operates a two-year post-secondary academic and career-technical program.
The University of New Mexico–Taos Campus seeks to deliver comprehensive community education. Consistent with this philosophy, it is the goal of the college to provide within available resources, programs and services of superior quality to meet the post-secondary education needs of all citizens of the community. UNM–Taos additionally provides the following resources to students: Upward Bound Math and Science, Veteran's Upward Bound, Student Support Services (SSS) TRIO, and a robust dual enrollment program.
The University of New Mexico–Taos branch campus serves students from northern New Mexico and the larger community with comprehensive educational opportunities in order to better prepare them to successfully participate in the world as educated, skilled, creative and responsible individuals. The Taos campus is an open-access, student-centered, affordable college that offers dual-credit, basic skills, transfer, career-technical, workforce training and lifelong learning courses and programs.
The goals that have been identified to fulfill the mission of UNM-Taos are to provide:
Academic Transfer Program. The University of New Mexico–Taos is authorized to offer any 1000- or 2000-level course from The University of New Mexico Catalog (Main Campus). The University of New Mexico–Taos also offers career-technical courses that respond to the needs of students, the community, and the workforce.
Associate Degrees. Associate degrees are currently awarded in Digital Media Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fine Arts, General Studies, Liberal Arts (multiple areas of focus), Nursing, Pre-Business Administration, and Pre-Sciences (multiple areas of focus).
Certificate Programs. Certificate programs are currently offered in 3D Printing, Business Computers, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Community Health, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Dental Assisting Science, Digital Graphic Design, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Services EMT Basic, Emergency Medical Services EMT Intermediate, Entrepreneurship, Holistic Health and Healing Arts, Hospitality Management, Human Services, Information Technology, Integrative Massage Therapy, Nursing Assistant (CNA), Office Technology, and Woodworking.
Center for Academic Success and Achievement. The Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) is dedicated to supporting the UNM–Taos community by providing testing, tutoring, supplemental academic support, technology support, and accessibility services. CASA has a formal testing center, mathematics and learning lab, and writing studio.
Special classes in English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Basic Literacy, and High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE) preparation are offered through the campus’ Taos Education and Career Center (TECC).
Community Education Engagement. The University of New Mexico–Taos offers non-credit, short-term courses and workshops for educational, professional, and personal enrichment, as well as workplace development training for area businesses. UNM–Taos offers Career Counseling that provides career advisement to current and potential students and alumni. UNM–Taos also offers assessments and will work with students on developing resumes and cover letters, and prepare for that important interview.
Library. The UNM–Taos Library is open to everyone and provides computers for academic use, which includes research databases, eBooks, email, word processing programs, and all computer applications taught at UNM–Taos.
